19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Success also signifies he has won 21 championships at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
