So great is the squad depth at Wythenshawe, Niasse had his first game at defender.

"That's a little unusual but then, I enjoy running and just go inside - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I tell my defender 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to continue attacking.

"That running is what I'm after. It's good fun."

Along with Cisse's six scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has netted eight in 3 games for the side, while Boyd hit five on his first match and Lescott, a defender by position, scored a hat-trick in one match up front.

The team are top of the Premier Division with 3 wins from three and a goal difference of +19.

One opponent, thirty-eight, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, came up against former Latics defender Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his nine-year-old boy who Heskey was.

"I think I was a little starstruck playing against him to be honest.

"Also Heskey got on and he's got over 60 England appearances.

"We really have not ceased chatting about it - I was phoning my mother and sibling on the way home.

"They were all dead sound, shaking our hands after the game - it was like facing a bunch of normal fellas.

"Now we can't wait for the return fixture."
